As part of The Great Read local author Clarie Hartfield will be discussing her new book A Few Red Drops: The Chicago Race Riot of 1919 . The book tells the story of the Chicago Race Riots of 1919 and how the building tensions and conflicting interests exploded in bloodshed that sent shock waves across the nation. We will learn about the affects the riots had on the Civil Rights Movement and how they are still felt today. Books will be available for purchase and to be signed.
